What is the Lotto 6/49?
The Lotto 6/49 was Established in 1982, as the first Canadian lottery to give players the ability to choose their own numbers as previous national lotteries had only allowed the purchase pre-printed tickets.
The Lotto 6/49 offers players the following game plays:

Players pay CA$3 for each line and as the name suggests pick six numbers from a choice of 49, matching them all to win the jackpot of at least CA $5,000,000 is won. A bonus number is also drawn, and if a ticket matches the full five numbers plus the bonus number, the player wins the "second prize" which is usually between CA $100,000 and CA $500,000.

Every line played on Lotto 6/49 ticket is a guaranteed entry into the Guaranteed Prize Draw. A ten-digit code is automatically generated and displayed on the ticket.

Quick Note: As many as ten separate lines or rather ‘sets of numbers’ can be played and printed on one individual ticket, but the maximum number allowed varies between jurisdictions.
For example, in the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) area — Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Northwest Territories, Yukon, and Nunavut — no more than six lines are allowed.

The code must be matched exactly with the one drawn on the night in order to claim the CA$1 million prize.

“At least one player will win in every draw.”

On occasion, special draws may be held in which more prizes of CA$1 million are made available

Lotto 6/49 Prizes (aka “the Great Part!)
The minimum Lotto 6/49 jackpot stands at CA$5 million, but can increase in value due to rollovers and has no rollover limit or jackpot cap until someone matches all six main numbers.
